The United Nations has declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests. Its aim is to unite targeted activities in order to increase awareness and encourage a global effort to manage, conserve and sustainably develop all types of forest.

WWF Italia has chosen to adhere to four strategic objectives:
1. To back the correct application of relevant legislation supporting the conservation of forests on the planet.

2. To propagate the value of the forest through the creation of awareness campaigns and direct conservation programmes both on a national and international level.

3. To promote forest certification in Italy and throughout the world.

4. To promote the use of wood, wood-derived products and specific certified commodities (paper, paper pulp, timber, palm oil, coffee, cocoa, etc.).

Caldirola has chosen to support the WWF's activities with the aim of adhering to the above-listed strategic objectives whilst focusing on the exploitation of wood resources used for the production of paper for its wine labels. Italy is, in fact, one of the largest timber-importing countries and plays a prominent role in its processing and transformation.
It is for this reason that increased commitment in the management and valorisation of this resource even by privately - owned businesses is required.
